SIPA and the Fundação Getulio Vargas Escola de Administração de Empresas de São Paulo Exchange Program

Back to MPA Dual Degree Programs

Columbia University’s SIPA and the Fundação Getulio Vargas, Escola de Administração de Empresas de São Paulo (FGV-EAESP) announce a new exchange program that will begin Fall 2009

SIPA students will have the opportunity to study in São Paulo next year as part of a new joint academic program we are establishing with FGV-EAESP, one of the leading academic institutions in Latin America. Created by the Fundação Getulio Vargas, the FGV-EAESP is widely recognized as the leading business and public management school in Brazil, and is one of the principal Brazilian centers of teaching, research, publication and consulting in its field, with undergraduate, graduate, executive, and dual-degree programs.

Instruction at the FGV-EAESP is in Portuguese. During the 2009-10 academic year, students enroll at FGV as an exchange student from SIPA. The period is normally for 1 full academic year, but we may consider 1 semester exchanges. After successful completion of coursework there, credits will be transferred to count towards your SIPA degree. Tuition is paid to the home school. The deadline for application is March 23. SIPA will forward to FGV a copy of the original set of application materials on file. Pending approval from NY State, SIPA will have a dual degree program with FGV-EAESP by the 2010-11 academic year.

The program gives students the opportunity to study in the public policy or international management tracks in São Paolo next year at the premiere public policy school in Brazil, with a long-established reputation for top-level graduate education and research. These programs provide options that include traditional public policy, but from a Latin American perspective, and the interaction of the public and private sectors.

Qualified candidates will be talented bi-lingual or multi-lingual professionals with academic training in the analytical skills of the social sciences and with a focus on business administration, international affairs, or public policy. It is anticipated that graduates will work in public, private on non-profit institutions in Brazil or the United States, dealing with public issues or public institutions; or that they will pursue careers in multilateral governmental organizations, international NGOs, or multinational corporations.

Students are encouraged to choose a course of study centered in one of the following Graduate Program Research Lines in FGV-EAESP:
