Special Film Presentation: “The Assassination of Russia.” A politically charged documentary accusing the Russian security services of complicity in the series of apartment bombings in Russia in September 1999. The bombings, which killed approximately 200 people and were blamed on Chechen militants, helped trigger the second Chechen war. The documentary was produced by a French production company and financed by Boris Berezovsky. Sergei Yushenkov, co-chair of Liberal Russia and deputy head of the security committee in the Duma, will lead a discussion afterwards. Attendance is limited to members of the Columbia community with valid ID's. Room 1219, 6-8pm. |
