Concentrations and Programs
In addition to fulfilling all core requirements, students must also satisfy the requirements for either a functional or regional concentration. Although only one concentration is required for the degree, many students select both a functional and a regional concentration to pursue complementary interests. For example, a student might combine a functional concentration in International Finance and Policy with a regional focus on East Asia, or Human Rights with a study of Latin America. It is possible to meet the requirements for both concentrations by double-counting core courses to fulfill concentration requirements, that is, an economics course on Eastern Europe could be counted toward a regional concentration in East-Central Europe, and toward a functional concentration in Economic and Political Development.
