Biography:
At Columbia University Cornelia H. McCarthy teaches Introductory Statistics and Econometric Techniques in the Masters Program for Economic Policy Managers and Applied Quantitative Methods for the Masters of International Affairs. She has taught at Columbia since the fall of 2005.

Cornelia H. McCarthy is currently the Associate Editor of the Journal of International Money and Finance. She has began her career in Economics as a research assistant for Anna J. Schwartz at the National Bureau of Economic Research. She has worked as an Economics Specialist in Private Placement and other areas of investment banking at Citicorp. In addition to her teaching at Columbia, Dr. McCarthy teaches at New York University Graduate School of Arts and Science and has taught at Fordham University Graduate School of Business Administration.

She has published research on exchange rate regimes in Mexico, Panama and Ireland, stock prices in Turkey, the impact of the Basel Accord on banking in Australia and the investment development path of China. Her paper "Currency Union and Real Exchange Rate Behavior," co-authored with James R. Lothian, won the Jesus Silva Herzog Award for best article in Momento Económico in 2001. Her research also looks into economic growth and the industry composition of economies. She is a member of the Frank J. Petrilli Center for Research in International Finance.

Dr. McCarthy received a MA in Mathematical Statistics and a Ph.D. in Economics from Columbia University.
