Biography:
Kye Baroang is Program Associate / Researcher with the Center on Globalization and Sustainable Development at the Earth Institute, Columbia University. He has provided research, tool development and policy guidance on integrating climate risk and adaptation activities into national and regional planning through work with multiple Earth Institute centers since 2008. With the International Research Institute for Climate and Society, Baroang has led technical backstopping and capacity building activities on climate risk management in water and agriculture.
Baroang has published and presented widely on climate risk and climate change adaptation, including having co-authored a chapter for Cambridge University Press, edited a collection of case studies on climate change and Indigenous Peoples, and published in Elsevier’s Treatise on Water Science. He has led international trainings for researchers and decision-makers, and provided consultation services to UNESCO and the World Bank Climate Change Team, among others. Before coming to the Earth Institute, he supported and led Southeast Asia-based projects promoting information and communication technologies (ICT) for development. Baroang holds a Master of International Affairs from SIPA and a B.A. from Rice University in Economics and Policy Studies, with an emphasis on international policy.
