Biography:
María Victoria Murillo, an associate professor in the Department of International and Public Affairs and the Department of Political Science, works and teaches in the areas of Latin American politics, public policy, labor politics, and comparative politics. She is currently working on the politics of policymaking in Latin America with a particular focus on the privatization and regulation of public utilities.
Murillo is the author of Labor Unions, Partisan Coalitions, and Market Reforms in Latin America (Cambridge 2001) and coeditor of Argentine Democracy: the Politics of Institutional Weakness (Pennsylvania State 2005). She has published in World Politics, American Journal of Political Science, Comparative Politics, Comparative Political Studies and other journals on Latin American political economy, labor politics, public utility reform, and political parties.
She received her BA from the Universidad de Buenos Aires and her MA and PhD from Harvard University. Murillo has also taught at Yale University and has been a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard University.
Research Interests: Latin America, Argentina
