Biography:
Victor Valdivia is adjunct associate professor in international and public affairs and head of Hudson River Analytics, Inc., Dr. Valdivia delivers accounting and finance consulting services to corporations and government entities. He has more than 15 years of experience in financial services, having worked with investment banks, commercial banks, asset managers, and government-sponsored entities. He has led multiple remediation and restatement projects, provided expert finance and accounting advice and has substantial experience in the development and implementation of accounting policies, procedures and systems, as well as in the development of internal controls and the definition of U.S. GAAP and IFRS accounting policies.
Prior to founding Hudson River Analytics, Inc. in 2001, Dr. Valdivia was the Chief Operating Officer and Director of Research at Brad Peery Inc., where he performed the due diligence for investments in private technology firms, developed research on public technology companies for institutional investors, and provided research analysis for over twenty equity underwritings. Dr. Valdivia previously worked as a "quant" at Lehman Brothers, an Economist at the International Monetary Fund, and in software development at Siemens and Oracle.
Dr. Valdivia currently has published on accounting topics such as noncompliance with U.S. GAAP by financial institutions, and SEC reporting by commercial banks. He is also an editorial advisor to the Journal of Accountancy, and a frequent speaker and panelist at academic and professional conferences and seminars. In addition, Dr. Valdivia is an active member of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants. He is currently the Chair of the Society's Banking Committee and the Chair of the Sub-Committee that organizes the Annual New York Banking Conference.
Dr. Valdivia holds a PhD degree from Northwestern University and also has graduate and undergraduate degrees from Stanford University.
