Dear SIPA Alumni:

In this challenging employment climate, networking and the support of the SIPA community are vital to the successful job searches of our alumni and students. Our track record to date with alumni sharing opportunities and recommendations has been so strong that we hope to continue expanding our network by adding even more alumni who are willing to help.

The Office of Career Services (OCS) has conducted extensive outreach, brought employers to campus for information sessions, and organized career panels and alumni receptions in New York and Washington, D.C. Throughout all of this, we also recognize that our alumni are an irreplaceable resource, so here are some ways you can help:

  • Send us internship and full-time opportunities available at your organization by emailing sipa_ocs@columbia.edu.

  • Speak with your hiring managers and human resources recruiters about the SIPA curriculum and the skill set our students and alumni can contribute to your organization. Please review our Recruiters Guide (PDF) which you can share with them. It provides an overview of the curriculum, organizations where our alumni and students work, and the recruitment services provided by OCS.

  • Encourage them to add SIPA to their list of target schools and to post internship and full-time opportunities with SIPA’s Office of Career Services. These postings are available to thousands of highly qualified alumni and students at no cost to the organization. They can simply email the position descriptions to sipa_ocs@columbia.edu.

  • Come to campus and conduct an employer information session about your organization and available opportunities for current students or alumni, or both.

  • Partner with the OCS Director of Outreach, Irene Coffman, SIPA ’82 (irene.coffman@sipa.columbia.edu) to provide introductions to your hiring managers and/or human resources recruiters.

Your help is critical to the career advancement of SIPA students and your fellow alumni, even more so now than in past years. We thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,
