Marina Shport

Marina Shport was born and raised in Bila Tserkva, Ukraine. After retiring as a professional swimmer both in the Ukraine and the United States she began a career in banking. At Lehman Brothers Marina worked as an Associate in the Credit Derivatives Department where she was working on Structured Credit Products. Currently, Marina is a second year student at Columbia University at the School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) working towards a master's degree in public administration. Her concentration at SIPA is in Management and she is additionally working towards a Harriman Institute Certificate.

Tatiana Chkourenko

Tatiana is a Masters student at SIPA, focusing on International Finance and Policy. She was born in Vladivostok, Russia. Tatiana graduated from Smith College with a B.A. in Political Science and International Affairs, and spent a year studying at Université de Genève and HEI in Geneva, Switzerland. During the summer of 2008, she worked on venture capital fund investments at the Inter-American Development Bank. Prior to attending SIPA, she worked in the legal and finance fields on project finance, security issuance and M&A transactions, as well as post-merger restructuring issues within the US and emerging markets. Tatiana’s interests include FDI, private equity, and transitioning and developing economies.

Valentina Gurney

Native of Saint Petersburg, Russia, Valentina came to SIPA after several years with Social Accountability International, a New York based NGO that promotes human rights in workplaces around the world. Valentina, fluent in a number of romance languages as a result of studying and working in Western Europe and Latin America, has carried on various multi-lingual projects for the World Bank focusing on the rights of indigenous people and protection of their intellectual property. Having studied Art History, Photography and Comparative Literature and earning a degree in Music, Valentina has been involved in developing cultural, educational and bi-lingual programs at the Hudson Guild, center serving the needs of the diverse community of lower Manhattan and taught Photography and English as a Second Language classes. Valentina is now pursuing her master’s degree in International Economic Policy.
