Migration is a worldwide phenomenon that affects every country:
wealthy, poor and everything in between. There are many unanswered questions regarding the legal, economic and social position immigrants should occupy in a host country. The DREAM coalition in collaboration with the Migration Working Group and LASA will be holding a series of film screenings and conversations to bring this discussion to the SIPA community. Our next screening is below:

“Human security, in its broadest sense, embraces far more than the absence of violent conflict. It encompasses human rights, good governance, access to education and health care and ensuring that each individual has opportunities and choices to fulfill his or her potential. Every step in this direction is also a steep towards reducing poverty, achieving economic growth and preventing conflict. Freedom from want, freedom from fear, and the freedom of future generations to inherit a healthy natural environment -- these are the interrelated building blocks of human – and therefore national – security.”
-Kofi Annan, 2000-

Want to learn more about Human Security? Do you simply want to know what Human Security is? Come join us April 6th at 12:30 pm in room 1302 for a discussion with Dorothy Estrada. She is a Second Year Researcher at the European University Institute, focusing on human rights and human security.
