Mario Fernandez
 President

Mario Fernandez

Mario Fernandez is one of the founding Board Members of the SIPA Finance Club and its president. Born in Bogota, Colombia, he obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Boston College. Prior to SIPA, he was a management consultant for five years advising High-Tech and Financial Services clients on outsourcing strategy and cost reduction. He is expecting to graduate in May 2009 with an MIA degree with a concentration in International Finance and Policy.

Kojo A. Asiedu

Kojo Asiedu joined SIPA Finance Club in the Fall of 2008.  Born and raised in Accra, Ghana, Kojo obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from Pomona College in Southern California.  He worked in Public Finance, helping municipalities and a variety of non-profit organizations raise capital through the issuance of tax-exempt debt..  Kojo enrolled at SIPA in the Fall of 2008 as a candidate for an MPA degree concentrating in International Finance and Policy.  Kojo is interested in the financial advisory sector, particularly in emerging markets.

Genna Sankin

Genna Sankin

Genna Sankin is a founding board member of the SIPA Finance Club. Genna began her graduate studies at Columbia University in Fall 2007. She is a dual degree student at Columbia Business School and the School of International and Public Affairs with expected graduation in 2010. Prior to business school and SIPA, Genna worked in the United States government and at an investigative journalism center in Washington, DC. During the summer of 2008, she worked in trade finance at HSBC in Hong Kong. Genna intends to pursue a career in corporate finance and emerging markets. Genna obtained a Bachelor of Arts from Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts. She enjoys cycling and foreign cinema.

Marcel Negherbon

Marcel Negherbon

Marcel Negherbon is a founding board member of the SIPA Finance Club. Marcel enrolled at Columbia University - SIPA in the Fall of 2008. He is a candidate for an MIA degree in Intl. Finance & Policy and in Intl. Energy Management. He holds a B.A. in Business Administration, from Florida Atlantic University, and a B.A. in International Affairs from UNISUL in Brazil. His experience includes working with Renewable Energy and Free Trade Agreements throughout the Americas. He is interested in the financial advisory sector, particularly in energy. Marcel was born in Brazil; he enjoys soccer, snowboarding and chess.

Robert Onah

"RobLegend" is a graduate student at SIPA concentrating in International Finance and Business. In 2008, Rob was a summer associate in the Africa division of an Emerging Market Private Equity firm based in New York City. Prior to enrolling at SIPA, Rob worked in the Finance industry in both New York and Paris. He obtained his Bachelor's degree from Ecole Superieur in Paris, France. Rob is an avid lover of sports and practices mixed martial arts.

Alejandro Rosales

Alejandro Rosales joined SIPA Finance Club in Fall of 2008. A native of Honduras, Alejandro completed his undergraduate degree at UCLA in Los Angeles, California in 2004 and has worked in a variety of sectors including commercial banking, and non-profit work. Alejandro began SIPA in January 2008 in order to pursue an advanced understanding of Finance, International Capital Markets and Emerging Markets in order to move into the Emerging Market Finance sector.

Akanksha Thakur

Akanksha Thakur joined SIPA Finance Club in Fall 2008. Originally from Shimla, India she completed her Bachelor of Business Studies from University of Delhi in 2003 and went on to receive her MBA from Clarion University of Pennsylvania, PA in 2005. She has worked in an energy consulting firm in India and as a Business Analyst in Fannie Mae, Washington DC. She is set to graduate in May 2009 with an MIA degree concentrating in International Finance and Policy and intends to pursue a career in Investment Banking in the frontier markets.
