Environment

The Environmental Task Force focuses on engaging student and faculty resources of Columbia University to work on climate change issues and the related challenges as seen from a global perspective. On top of providing students with up-to-date presentations on the different aspects of climate change, it provides them with opportunity to get involved on research projects (e.g papers, workshops) that are of particular interest to UN bodies (e.g Climate Change Negotations, links between Adaptation and development, energy and envrionment, stustainable business practices). Those interested in contributing to the Environmental Task Force should contact Elie Chachoua ec2499@columbia.edu

Disarmament and Security

The Disarmament and Security Task Force’s aim is to bring together a team of experts that work together in joint projects concerning security and disarmament issues that seek the disarming of highly violent and volatile regions of the world. It pursues this goal by enacting international law and treaty implementation at the high government level and in collaboration with the E.U., INTERPOL, UNODA, and other regional organizations that are involved in the issue. Those interested in contributing to the Security & Disarmament Task Force should contact Rafael Rodriguez-Leal at rr2450@columbia.edu.

UNICEF/New Media

The vast majority of the world is missing out on the information revolution, unable to benefit from the wealth of information that is increasingly becoming available. How can we bridge the digital divide, linking online communities with people will never see a computer? The New Media Task Force, working with UNICEF's Youth Division, is focusing on the relationship between new media tools and technologies within the field of development. Building a new skills box for the 21st century development practitioner, the New Media Task Force supports UNICEF Youth Division activities by providing them with a rigorous academic approach backstopping pioneering initiatives.
