A six-person team from SIPA’s EPD Workshop Program worked with Hello Future, a young non-profit organization running an informal digital literacy program for refugee youth in Iraqi Kurdistan. The team worked to develop a monitoring and evaluation framework for Hello Future’s activities, as well as some programmatic findings and early feedback from their pilot program. To this end, the team conducted desk research and travelled to Iraqi Kurdistan in March 2019 to interview local experts, Hello Future’s educators, and program participants. Working with the organization’s executive directors, the team helped formulate a Theory of Change from which foundational monitoring and evaluation plans and a brief survey tool were constructed. Additionally, the team formulated several pathways for Hello Future to continue developing its programming, based on the key findings relating to both Hello Future’s programming and the surrounding context.
