Sandra Baquié is a 5th year PhD student in the Sustainable Development PhD program. Her main research interests lie in the fields of Development, Health, and Environmental Economics. After an MSc. Engineering from the Ecole Centrale Paris and work experiences in Asia, her passion for Development led her to the University of Cambridge where she obtained a MPhil. Economics summa cum laude.
Sandra's ongoing projects range from the analysis of nutritional vulnerability in the aftermaths of shocks to the study of the quality of data collected in uncertain times. She is also working on an interdisciplinary project with Prof. DeFries relating migration to forest degradation in Central India. Prior to starting her PhD, Sandra gained extensive experience in developing countries from working as a mechanic in China to being a production manager in Cambodia to interning at United Nations ESCAP. She has also worked as a consultant for think tanks and international organizations such as the World Bank.
