Posted Jan 20 2016

SIPA launched the celebration of its 70th anniversary year January 14 with an event in Washington, D.C., featuring Dean Merit E. Janow and Fred Kempe IF ’77, president and CEO of the Atlantic Council. The conversation about “Preparing For Global Challenges In 2016” drew a standing-room-only crowd to the Four Seasons Hotel in Washington’s Georgetown neighborhood.

Kempe and Janow spoke about the U.S.-China relationship, the Trans-Pacific Partnership, the Syrian civil war, and the Middle East migration crisis, among other topics.

David Ottaway, ’63 SIPA, a former Washington Post correspondent, introduced the event, which was followed by an alumni-student networking reception. All told, more than 300 students and alumni took part in the evening’s events.
