As a member of Columbia University, SIPA students, faculty and staff are eligible for educational pricing for computer purchases with Columbia Vendors, All faculty purchases with university funds must be purchased by SIPA IT. Please send an email to email@example.com to initiate such purchases.
CU Purchasing has contracts with several vendors for windows-based systems and Apple products. SIPA supports the following operating systems for administrators, staff and students in labs and offices.
- Microsoft Windows 7/8/10
- Mac OSX 10.11 or higher
Apple Custom Store
Apple offers a customized online store offering systems to students, faculty and staff at educational pricing. Discounts vary as promotions change.
Dell computers can be purchased for personal use by logging in with your UNI at: https://finance.columbia.edu/content/computer-equipment-laptops-desktops.

CU/SIPA also has a Microsoft Campus Agreement for Windows OS and MS Office under which SIPA students, faculty and staff can download software for personal use. Faculty and Staff can also download MS Project and MS Visio. CU has negotiated educational pricing for various other software, such as Symantec anti-virus, SSh and WINSCP. . Faculty can request purchase of additional software through SIPA IT, such as Stata and Scientific WorkPlace. CU has site licenses for several statistical programs and faculty can request to purchase a license for Mathematica, Matlab, SPSS, Stata and SAS.
