Support for Faculty

SIPA IT serves as a single point of contact for technical services for SIPA faculty; consulting, recommending and purchasing IT equipment and accessories. Configuration of such systems is billable to the computer setup account or a research account for equipment (View Rate Card). Faculty may choose CUIT supported Connected DataProtector. to backup documents up to 5GB compressed space excluding media files. For large data sets, faculty are advised to backup on external drives. While faculty systems on the SIPA network are supported by SIPA IT, faculty who choose to administer their own equipment are responsible for maintaining their systems, patching their system regularly and keeping anti-virus definitions up to date. SIPA faculty are trained and supported by SIPA AV for use of audio visual (AV) equipment in the SIPA eRooms. Request for AV services must be submitted 2 business days in advance of its use .

Support for SIPA Staff

SIPA IT is responsible for all IT services for the administrative staff. Each office is equipped with standard hardware and software. Special requests for equipment or software may be charged to each office. SIPA IT reviews and upgrades equipment on a regular basis, as needed. Desktops for the senior staff and administrators are backed up with CUIT supported Connected DataProtector up to 5GB compressed space, excluding media files. In addition to the CUIT UNI email address, all SIPA Staff are provided with a SIPA email account on the Office 365 Online Exchange with UNI@sipa.columbia.edu email address. Office 365 also provides SIPA staff audio and video conference capabilities with Skype for Business. Audio visual services are available in SIPA eRooms and conference spaces to all SIPA administrative units.

Support for Institutes and Centers

SIPA IT services are available to Centers and Institutes including desktop and network support; advise and purchase equipment as needed. Cost of support for access to the SIPA network and system configuration can be found here. Systems may be backup with CUIT supported Connected DataProtector for non-media documents; billed @$54 annually for 5GB compressed data per system. Friends of SIPA can request AV services for eRooms and Kellogg Conference Center.

WHO DO I CONTACT ABOUT MY E-MAIL ACCOUNT?

Lionmail is managed by CUIT. For email related issues, please visit 101 Philosophy, call 212-854-1919 or email askcuit@columbia.edu. SIPA staff should contact sipahelpdesk@columbia.edu for assistance with SIPA email.

IS THERE INTERNET CONNECTION IN SIPA CLASSROOMS?

Free WiFi is available throughout IAB. Users can also download Columbia Secure WiFi software for a secure connection.

HOW DO I REQUEST AV SERVICES IN A CLASSROOM?

AV services can be requested online at least 2 days in advance for a SIPA class in the IAB. The form may be found and submitted online. Please contact CUIT for AV services outside the building and in CUIT-controlled eRooms (403, 410, 417).

WHO CAN I CONTACT FOR PASSWORD RESET OR PRINTER ISSUES?

Please contact a consultant in 510 SIPA Computer lab for SIPA network password reset or for printer issues in a SIPA office.
