Reapplying to SIPA

SIPA welcomes applications from candidates who have previously applied for admission, regardless of the outcome. However, for application processing, you are considered a reapplicant if you submitted your application a year ago.  If it has been longer than one year, please apply as a "new applicant".  All reapplications are subject to the following guidelines:

  • Applicants are subject to the same deadlines, fees, and regulations as first-time applicants.
  • Applicants are limited to three applications overall -- one initial application and two subsequent applications.

Review the Application Checklist for details on all application requirements, including essay prompts. Re-applicants are required to submit the following Items:

  • If you applied before 2014, create a new account and complete the online application form. You will not be able to log into your old account and “renew” your old application. If your initial application was submitted for 2014, please log into your account and enter your password.  Do not create another account.  Select a term and program you wish to apply.
  • Transcripts of any college or university level work undertaken since your last application should be submitted.
  • Upload an updated C.V./Résumé.
  • Essays:
    1. You may submit your original Personal Statement (Essay 1), but an updated version is recommended for reapplicants.
    2. If your program requires the Short Essay (Essay 2), you must submit the essay that coincides with the term you're applying to.
    3. All reapplicants must submit the Reapplicant Essay (Essay 3).
    4. You may submit the Optional Essay (Essay 4), as described in the Application Checklist.
    5. All essays must be uploaded to the application system. (We will not retain your original Personal Statement, so you must upload that as well if you choose to resubmit it for review.)
  • Test scores are self-reported in the application process. If you have taken any new tests since you last applied, self report the new scores on your application.

Application materials from all programs are kept on file for two years. Most documents may be reused, but all applicants are highly encouraged to submit new, updated materials. If you would like to reuse any of your materials, please do the following:

  1. If you plan to reuse your Essay 1 or resumes, you must upload those to the new application. We do not retain copies of old essays and resumes.
  2. If you plan to reuse your transcripts, test scores, or recommendation letters, please email our office informing us of which of these materials you plan to reuse. You will also inform us in the application form under the reapplicant section.
