Soffia Alarcon has 15 years of experience consulting both corporates and governments develop climate change/sustainability solutions. As the Associate Director for the Americas in the Sustainability Business at Schneider Electric, Soffia focuses on delivering strategic work to America’s based companies through the process of decarbonization and ESG assessments. Prior to joining Schneider, she was Director for Sustainable Finance at IHS Markit (now owned by S&P Global) where she supported the development of the next generation of ESG solutions to disclose and manage ESG and climate-related risks. She also supported the operations of the second largest offset registry in the world. In 2012, she worked for the World Resources Institute in DC and later joined Mexico's public sector as Director of Climate Change Mitigation Policy to lead the design of the National GHG Emissions Register as well as the implementation of the Climate Change Law including the national Emissions Trading System.

Her areas of expertise span climate policy, decarbonization and sustainability strategy; ESG risk management reporting and strategy; Science-Based and Net Zero targets; Scope 3 emissions disclosure; climate risk disclosures; GHG management and disclosures; carbon markets (voluntary, mandatory, and international); and the path to harnessing the power of AI to tackle ESG- and green-greenwashing.

In the academic world, she taught a course on climate change policy and science and has collaborated in different magazines and global television networks.
